Halloween is my favorite holiday, and usually, I have a fun costume idea weeks or even months before spooky season approaches. A few of my past costumes have been Princess Peach, Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon, Taylor Swift from the Reputation Stadium Tour, and Alligator Loki from the Loki series. However, this year I didn’t really have any costumes planned. Between my internship, my part-time job, and my final semester of college, I never got around to coming up with a solid idea. By the time I turned to TikTok for some costume inspiration, Halloween was less than two weeks away.

After a while of scrolling, I finally found a costume idea that sounded fun: a peacock. I started searching on Amazon for anything that could work for the costume that would also arrive in time. Unfortunately, most of the more peacock-specific accessories would not arrive in time, but I was able to find a few things I thought might work. I ended up ordering a blue corset, a green skirt, a teal feather headpiece, some peacock feathers, and a small purse with a beaded peacock feather design.

When I first tried everything on together, I could see the vision, although it didn’t quite resemble the peacock costumes I had saved on Pinterest. On Halloween, I paired the look with some blue eyeliner and heeled black boots. I had planned to stick some of the peacock feathers in the corset or the headpiece, but they sadly didn’t want to stay in place, so I had to ditch that idea. The final costume honestly resembled a showgirl more than a peacock, but I was determined to make it work for the night.

For the night’s festivities, a couple of my friends came over to hang out and then go out in downtown Kent. Halloweekend in downtown Kent is always very busy, but we arrived early enough that we didn’t have to wait in line. The first place we went to was The Loft, and to my surprise, two people complimented me on my costume on the way there. We stayed there for a while, and two of my favorite costumes I saw there were Sabrina Carpenter and the Scarlet Witch.
By the time we left, we were all craving Mexican food, so we walked over to Barrio for some tacos and margaritas. Barrio ended up being our last stop of the night, and once we were back at my apartment, we put on KPop Demon Hunters before we fell asleep on the couch.
Although I still prefer planning my Halloween costumes in advance, for a semi last-minute costume, it turned out decently. The best part of Halloween is just getting to dress up and have fun with friends.
